Brown Paper Packages…

‘Tis the season for brown paper packages ties up with string!

Once they are opened however and you are enjoying your new favorite things most of the boxes make their way to the recycling bins! We’ve noticed the past while that many of these boxes are not being broken down, which is not only filling the bin, but resulting in overflow fees.

Please ensure you take the time to break these boxes down, exacto knife, scissors, jumping on them are all effective means! This will ensure we can maximize the bin space this holiday season for everyone.

Recycling pickup is generally Tuesdays so there should be minimal disruption in services. If you do come to find the bin full, please hold onto it until the bin has been emptied, or consider taking it to a city drop off location.

Also as a reminder - the bins are for general household waste, mixed recycling and organics. Large items such as desk, chairs, tv’s, mattresses, bed frames should be donated or taken to the city landfill and not placed in the shed.
